Pet dog urinating on public stairs triggers conflict between neighbors

A pet dog caused a dispute between two families, which was unresolved for three years and failed to be resolved many times. In order to resolve this neighborhood dispute, the police and community cadres took the initiative to carry out mediation work at the door, and finally the two parties shook hands and made peace.

In 2019, a neighbor of Zhao, a resident of Wenchangge Community, Zhangjiang Street, Taoyuan County, raised a pet dog. Because the dog urinates and defecates everywhere on the public stairs, Zhao often has conflicts with his neighbors. After many consultations, the problem still lingered on for a long time, and the police station and the community came to coordinate many times. In August 2022, the two families clashed again over the pet dog issue. Zhao once again stated that the other party was not allowed to keep dogs and complained to the community again.

On August 15, Wenchangge community police officer Yang Jing learned of the situation at work. In order to completely resolve the dispute and prevent the dispute from expanding, she took the initiative to conduct door-to-door mediation with community cadres.

During the mediation process, Yang Jing learned that the dog breeder Shang raised small teddy dogs with complete certificates and qualified vaccines, and were generally not aggressive towards people. Later, Yang Jing learned that Shang did not have good dog-raising habits in his daily dog-raising, and did not deal with the pet dog's excrement in a timely manner, and that the pet dog had bitten Zhao.

Faced with this situation, the policeman understood the situation first and informed Shang about the relevant contents of the "Changde Dog Breeding Management Regulations", requiring him to wear a leash and muzzle on the dog when taking the dog out, and to clean up the dog's excrement immediately. Then he was moved by emotion and persuaded Zhao with the folk saying "dogs come to be blessed" and told him that the procedures for raising the pet dog were complete, hoping to change the prejudice and cherish the hard-won neighborly affection.

After repeated persuasion, the two parties finally shook hands and made peace, and harmony between neighbors was restored. The proactive actions of the police have also been well received by residents.
