Hargreaves: No one will take the initiative to leave a team like Bayern, but I really want to play for Ferreau
Manchester United former player Hargreaves talked about the transfer that he left Bayern to join the Red Devils in an interview with "442".
He said: "Players usually don't take the initiative to leave a team like Bayern. Bayern is a great club and a giant. If Bayern wants to retain any player, it will generally succeed, because winning the trophy there is almost a foregone conclusion.
"But I knew at the time that Manchester United was very interested in me and Sir Ferguson coached there, which made me very moved. I'm very familiar with many England players: Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Scholes and Rooney, they've been talking about me with Sir Ferguson, and they know what I think about United.
"It is an honor for me to be able to transfer from a club like Bayern to Manchester United. Both clubs have brilliant history. Sir Ferguson doesn't need to say too much to convince me. I'm honored that he wants to sign me, and I agree without thinking."
During his time at Bayern, Hargreaves won 4 Bundesliga titles, 3 German Cups, 1 Champions League title and two Intercontinental Cup titles. In July 2007, he joined Manchester United for £17 million. During his time at the Red Devils, Hargreaves won four Premier League titles and one Champions League title.
