How to get rid of the quilt smell?
After a long summer, does your quilt have a little smell? If you take advantage of the sun a few days ago, you may have already laundry your quilts. But what should I do if I’m not ready yet? The editor teaches you that quilts can remove the smell without sunbathing.
Cotton Quilt
Cotton Quilt is the most common quilt. If there is sun, you can then fold it up after exposure, put a few small bags of desiccant in it (these things are often found in snacks, so you can collect them for later use), and then add a few pieces of soap (you can choose your favorite fragrance). The quilt will not smell in a few days.
Note: Do not pile the desiccant and soap together, but put it layer by layer, don’t use too much, just three or four pieces of soap, and the soap can be used in the future and will not be wasted.
Down quilt
Down quilt is the lightest quilt. When there is plenty of sunshine, you can take out the duvet to dry for a while, but be careful not to take it too long. Hang it in a cool and ventilated place for 2-3 days, and then pat it evenly to eliminate the unpleasant smell.
If you encounter sunless weather, you can spray lemonade on the quilt and then put it in a cool place to dry for a night, so that the odor on the quilt can be removed.
This method is very simple, but remember to use spray instead of sprinkled, spray evenly.
Fiber quilts
Fiber quilts are the cheapest quilts and do not require special maintenance. However, it is recommended to regularly expose it to the sun to achieve the antibacterial and dehumidification effect. Water washing or machine washing is OK, neutral detergent or soap powder, use the washing machine to clean and dehydrate.
Silk quilt
Silk quilts are blown in a ventilated place. Generally, open the quilt and hang it for ventilation, and there will be no odor in one to two weeks. Of course, it will be better to burn under the sun, because rising temperatures will accelerate the replacement of air in the vents.
However, the silk should not be exposed to the sun for too long, because mulberry silk will become brittle under ultraviolet rays. So some people dry silk quilts every day, but after a year, they find that they are getting less and less warm and thinner. This is the reason. Except for the time you can't burn too long in summer, you can burn for 2 hours without direct sunlight.
wool quilt
wool quilts are the closest quilt, but after being left for a long time, there will inevitably be some strange smell. To remove these strange smells, you can spray alcohol evenly on the wool, then sprinkle a small amount of yellow rice on the wool and gently beat it or brush it 1-2 times with a soft brush. Remember to make sure the technique is light!
After the soft hairs dry, shake off the yellow rice, then roll the wool tightly and put some mothballs on for a while (about two months). The odor can evaporate with alcohol and camphor.
In terms of maintenance, it is best not to wash the wool quilt with water. If possible, dry cleaning is recommended, or just let the sun be exposed to the sun for half an hour. When drying, you can lay a piece of cloth on the quilt to avoid damage to the wool fibers caused by the scorching sun.
