Heroic police dog died in the line of duty. Pay tribute to the K9 bulletproof vest in memory.
We all know that police dogs face many dangers every day, but unfortunately, due to the high cost of protective vests for police dogs, many police departments do not have them.

K9s has raised more than $1.7 million through private and corporate donations, and funds received have provided more than 1,900 protective vests in 49 states. One of the most recent police dogs to benefit from the organization is Deuce, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois. Thanks to K9s' VestedInterest, the Deuce got its own vest that even includes a tribute to the departing officer. K9s offers vests with five-year warranty tags, which typically range from $1,795 to $2,234 each. These vests protect dogs from gunshot wounds and blade injuries, making them safer at work.

The organization received a special price for the vests, $1,050 a vest. The protective vest has been distributed to many police dogs and has embroidery on the vest that reads: "A K9 in honor of Officer Doug Byrne." Byrne was an officer with the Aurora Police Department who was tragically killed in the line of duty. In 2007, it was participating in a medical emergency and died when its cruiser was hit.

Honoring police dog Byrne with a K9 vest is a great way to honor his memory. Organizations like K9s' VestedInterest are great in supporting police dogs. Ready to see 2-year-old Deuce become an awesome police dog?
