Qatar is not available? Guardian: The next Club World Cup will be held in the summer of 29 & may be expanded to 48 teams

According to the Guardian, FIFA has notified football federations of all continents that the next Club World Cup will be held in the summer of 2029, a move that seems to negate Qatar's proposal to host the event. Another major development is that FIFA told major football federations that the teams participating in the next Club World Cup may exceed the 32 teams in the Club World Cup this summer.

The Guardian disclosed in June that FIFA is facing pressure from top clubs to expand the Club World Cup to 48 teams, and this pressure has further intensified since the end of last month's game. Champion Chelsea received £85 million from a £750 million bonus and participating fund.

Although FIFA has allegedly stated that it may undergo a certain degree of expansion in 2029, it is not a foregone conclusion to adopt the 48-team model that will be used for the first time next year's Men's Football World Cup. The Women's World Cup is also planned to expand to 48 teams in 2031, with 32 teams in the previous two sessions, which clearly shows the direction of FIFA's development.

FIFA is considering another competition system for the 2029 Club World Cup, which is to hold a series of qualifying play-offs a week before the main event, and the winner advances to the main competition. As another Mexican club, Leon, was expelled for violating the multi-club ownership rules, Los Angeles FC played a single play-off with Mexican club Americas to determine the last ticket to the CFC World Cup.

Although this playoff in Leon's violation was introduced at the last minute, FIFA believes it is very successful. Senior officials said a series of knockouts could create additional topical heat before the event starts and at the end of the European season, while boosting the value of television rights. This year's broadcast rights were funded by Saudi Arabia's Surj Sports Investment and sold to Dazn for £750 million.

If the Club World Cup expands to 48 teams, the number of games will almost double from 64 to 104. In contrast, the single playoff system has a smaller impact on players. FIFA has faced legal complaints from the European League organization and the global player union FifPro, and the European Commission has not yet decided whether to initiate a formal investigation.

FIFA notified that the 2029 event will be held in the summer and may help improve relations with the European League: There have been concerns that if Qatar receives the right to host, the event may be postponed until the next winter. Senior Qatar officials held talks with FIFA in Miami in June on a bid for the event, but the confirmation of the schedule may give them a breakdown.

Spain and Morocco are currently the most likely host countries, and they will co-sponsor the Men's World Cup in 2030. The third host, Portugal, has not shown much interest yet, but its smaller stadium is suitable for qualifying.

FIFA may eventually change the Club World Cup to be held every two years, as it seems determined to challenge UEFA's traditional control over international club events, but this is not on the agenda until the current international match calendar expires in 2030.

FIFA declined to comment at this time.
