TA: Dyche is close to reaching an agreement with Nottingham Forest and the appointment is expected to be officially announced today

According to The Athletic, Dyche is about to reach a long-term contract with Nottingham Forest and become the team's new head coach. The appointment is expected to be officially announced today.

According to previous reports, Dyche became the first choice for Forest coach shortly after the sacking of Postkoglu on Saturday afternoon.

Forest also made contact with former Manchester City coach Mancini and considered Fulham coach Marco Silva. Mancini has said he is interested in the job, but the club has concerns about his status given that he has coached the Italian national team and the Saudi national team since leaving Zenit in 2018.

Global head of football Edu and technical director George Sirianos have led the search for Postkoglu's successor and have held active talks with Dyche, who has been out of work since leaving Everton in January this year.

Dyche has extensive experience in the Premier League, having coached Burnley for nearly seven seasons and two years at Everton, which is very important for Forest and its large number of English players, and he is considered to be the best candidate for the club.

Postkoglu succeeded Nuno as head coach in September this year, but was without a win in 8 games and was fired after losing 0-3 at home to Chelsea. Postkoglu has only taken 1 point in 5 league games and lost to Arsenal, Sunderland, Newcastle United and Chelsea in other games. In addition, Forest was defeated by the English Championship team Swansea in the League Cup, drew 2-2 with Betis in the first game of the Europa League, and lost to Midtjylland in the subsequent game.

The 54-year-old Dyche left his position at Everton at the beginning of this year, when Everton ranked 16th in the Premier League, and his successor Moyes eventually led the team to 13th place. In the 23-24 season, Dyche successfully retained Everton's Premier League seat despite the club being deducted twice for violating Premier League profitability and sustainability rules.

Ditch began his coaching career at Watford. After one season, he joined Burnley, where he spent nearly ten years. Dyche led Burnley to the most successful period in the club's history, competing in the Premier League for six consecutive seasons until he was fired in April 2022.

Nottingham Forest, currently ranked 18th and with only 1 victory, will face Porto in the Europa League on Friday.
