BBC: More than 100 fan groups call on Premier League clubs to freeze home ticket prices for the next two seasons

British media BBC reported that more than 100 fan groups have called on Premier League clubs to freeze home ticket prices in the next two seasons.

In the 2024-25 season, 19 of the 20 Premier League teams have increased ticket prices, and 13 teams have also increased ticket prices this season, prompting 116 fan organizations to call for a halt to further price increases.

Clubs are required to freeze ticket prices for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons, share ticket and policy data with fans, and discuss future ticket prices with fans.

A letter published on the Football Supporters Association website said: "Rising prices have made it more difficult for ordinary fans, especially those from the younger generation and working-class communities, to attend games."

It is understood that the Premier League will meet with the Supporters Association (FSA) and fan representatives in December to discuss the contents of the letter. There have been a number of fan protests recently.

The letter also highlights the challenges posed by changing kick-off times to cater for TV broadcasters, adding: "Matchday planning has never been more difficult and attending matches has never been more expensive."

The report also states that clubs need to "stop an arms race on ticket prices", saying "a £3 billion transfer window spend, soaring Agent commissions and record wages cannot be compensated by higher ticket prices. We understand the commercial reality, but this is precisely why we need to stop price increases and work together to find a more balanced solution."

The document also describes the existing £30 cap on away tickets as a "landmark agreement" that proves that the cost of ticket prices can be assessed.

The Chelsea Supporters Trust, one of the signatories of the letter, added: "After two consecutive years of ticket price increases that have exceeded inflation, devastating fans, the message is clear: Chelsea must now stop further increases in home ticket prices."

"By signing this statement, we are speaking out for a Stamford Bridge that remains accessible, inclusive and vibrant, where the supporters make Chelsea what it is today and for generations to come."
